Walking Through Rayol-Canadel-sur-Mer
Rayol-Canadel-sur-Mer is a late coastal commune built between three distinct districts, beaches, a former railway line and a spectacular monumental staircase.

Rayol-Canadel-sur-Mer looks neither like an old hill village nor like a simple resort aligned along the shore. The commune was assembled during the twentieth century from several districts and became independent in 1949.
Three districts to read the commune
Rayol, Canadel and Pramousquier still form the clearest structure of the territory. Each has its own access logic, its own relationship with the beach and its own way of entering the landscape.
Old railway and monumental staircase
The arrival of the South-France railway opened the site. Later, the great staircase of Rayol, with its 882 steps, gave a very specific form to the link between the shore and the heights.
Beaches, estate and memory
The Domaine du Rayol adds a botanical and landscape reading of the place, while the beaches of Rayol, Canadel and Pramousquier keep the maritime orientation of the commune in view. The landing memorials also preserve a precise wartime memory.
After Rayol-Canadel-sur-Mer, you can climb back towards La Môle or stay on the shoreline by continuing to Cavalaire-sur-Mer.
